About 1824 Kennett Pl:
1824 Kennett Place is a Second Empire style house built in 1879. The original 3,900 sq ft home was built by Jacob J. Wertheimer, president of the Wertheimer-Swarts Shoe Co. and one of five directors for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition Co. (St Louis World’s Fair). In 1892, JJ Wertheimer sold the house to Nathan Waldstein, head of Waldstein Lumber Co. and president of St. Louis Lumberman’s Exchange.
The original house was expanded to over 10,000 sq ft, including a finished basement and a pool house. The addition spans across 5 lots, including 3 addresses (1818, 1820, & 1824 Kennett Pl), 7 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, a swimming pool, and a 3 car attached garage.
